Stanley, Bostitch and DeWalt Paul Lafrance Design Team - Brands We Trust

Stanley Bostitch DeWalt – Brands We Trust

Tough! That’s the word we’d use to describe the tools that the Paul Lafrance Design build crews need. When you’re on the go building big projects and making thousands of cuts, being let down by your tools can really ruin your day. Paul and his build teams need tools that work as hard as they do. So who do they go to? Easy: The best in the industry.

For hand tools, Stanley has everything a carpenter needs, from tape measures to chisels, and everything in between. Even rolling storage bins that make transporting our tools on and off the job site quick and easy. What a lifesaver! When we’re working outside, we need tools that we know we can trust not to fail us, even in the worst weather conditions. The durability of Stanley tools is our favourite thing about them.

Bostitch nailers are some of the tools that we depend upon most. These tools aren’t just reliable, innovative, and time-saving. They can also take a beating and they just keep on going, through joist-hanging, finishing, and pranking Kate by nailing her belt to a post (we told you we like to have fun). Of course, we like to get down to business too, and Bostitch compressors & fasteners help us hit the ground running.

DeWalt – Guaranteed Tough Rounding off the trifecta are DeWalt power tools. Precise, powerful, state-of-the-art, and of course, dependable. They are everything a carpenter needs to get the job done! Our favourites are the 1/4″ impact driver, and their groundbreaking battery-powered nailer that saves us a huge amount of time. Technology has come a long way in making these tools lightweight, versatile and easy to use.

When building projects for “Disaster Decks” and “Decked Out“, these are the tools that Paul reaches for first. See you next week as we take a closer look at another of our favourites on “We <3 It!” Wednesday!

Trex Transcend Paul Lafrance Design Team - Brands We Trust

Trex Transcend – Brands We Trust

Making a big investment in your home is a big deal, and we absolutely recommend considering your deck materials very carefully. There is an incredible variety of options available to you, and each one offers different values in maintenance, durability, and beauty. Paul has high expectations for the material he uses, and Trex Transcend is one of the best:

Low Maintenance: This is a big one and one of the most important factors. There’s no such thing as an absolute zero-maintenance material, but Trex is as low as it gets. Just give it a surface wash, like you would your car. No problem, and no time wasted on grueling annual sanding, staining and sealing.

Durability: A Trex Transcend deck is a lifetime investment that in 25 years, you can expect to look as beautiful as the day it was installed. Making the extra investment in Trex Elevations stable steel framing will make it last even longer.

Beauty: Composite lumber products have come a long way over the years, and today’s Trex Transcend line is stunning, coloured and textured to capture the beauty of wood without the level of maintenance or risk for rot. With a variety of colours and lines of lighting, stairs and railings designed especially for pairing with Trex decking, the possibilities are endless.

Property Value: Home buyers don’t want to inherit maintenance issues with their prospective home. With a traditional wood deck, it’s not likely adding to the value of your home, especially if it’s getting on in years. Even the best-maintained wood deck will eventually need to be replaced. Trex Transcend can take a beating and its low maintenance factor, if combined with a stellar design, will often add more to your property value than you spent on your design and deck! Visit Trex, online here today!

Used in many of Paul’s projects on “Disaster Decks” and “Decked Out“, Trex is definitely Paul Lafrance Design’s top choice in composite decking material.

Techno Metal Post Paul Lafrance Design Team - Brands We Trust

Techno Metal Post – Brands We Trust

When he’s creating a backyard transformation, Paul Lafrance wants to be sure that the foundation supporting his client’s deck is rock solid. A great deck depends on its posts for stability and support to last a lifetime, and Techno Metal Post‘s helical pile system offers that in spades. “Your deck is only as strong as the foundation beneath it,” Paul emphasizes.

Here’s how it works. The Techno Metal Post helical pile is constructed with a hollow steel tube and a thick helix made of high quality steel. Using hydraulic machinery, a certified technician will screw the post into the ground without the need to damage your yard, mix concrete, or redistribute dirt.

In the fast-paced and competitive decking industry, the ability to set footings and start framing in the same day can be a lifesaver! “This new footing system saves an absolute ton of time,” says Paul. “All you’re doing is drilling this spiral metal post into the ground seven feet, and it’s ready to fly. You can be framing the same day.”

Even better, Techno Metal Post‘s helical piles are proudly manufactured in Canada using North American steel. We love to support Canadian business and, combined with their friendly and attentive service, this is just the icing on the cake. Used in “Disaster Decks” and “Decked Out“, the Techno Metal Post foundation solution is one that Paul Lafrance Design stands behind.
