Book Paul today for your next event or events! Paul is renowned for his ability to “get inside people’s heads” and incorporate personal stories into his designs. “Most people in the world believe that not only do others not know their story, but they don’t care to” says Paul. The result of his approach is that people’s redesigned homes reflect their unique interests and family life in truly remarkable ways. His philosophy is to constantly push past barriers, both in design and in life, which has not only made countless jaw-dropping designs possible, but also has made a real impact on the lives of those he’s worked with.
As a public speaker, Paul has built a reputation for having an undeniable mix of the deep and ridiculous. Whether he’s talking about the importance of intentional design, keys to building with integrity and efficiency, or addressing crowds of aspiring craftspeople and artisans, Paul has a unique talent for inspiring people to push past the barriers in their own lives as well.
Paul is passionate about the idea that everyone has a story. Helping others to discover what truly makes them come alive and to find their own unique abilities to impact the world around them is a constant theme when he speaks. From home and garden shows to charity events to college and university campuses, he has proven to be both a dynamic and motivating force on stage and off.
Paul Lafrance takes his deck building to a whole new “level” in his “ground-breaking” series Decked Out.
Airing on HGTV since 2012, Decked Out is an outdoor construction reality TV show that follows the journey of Paul Lafrance and his crew as they take on innovative deck and backyard makeover projects.
Owing to Paul’s exceptional creativity, the complex nature of the projects are often quite challenging. One can assume this potentially leading to tense and stressful situations. However, Paul insists that no one takes themselves too seriously and that everyone has fun (as a bunch of “goofballs!”).
Paul’s energy, edginess, humour and charisma are on full display, making Decked Out a must-watch for any backyard and deck design lover.

Yes, we’re still in 2020. It’s been a bit of a rough year to say the least. Did you know you are still allowed to be trendy? It’s tough to go places these days so why not revolutionize your backyard experience and make it THE place to go?
We’re going to give you the inside scoop on 2020’s top deck trends which will transform your backyard into your very own dream vacation.
Want something to last a lifetime? Try stone. It’s classic, permanent, and it’s timeless. Pairs perfectly with a hot tub and a BBQ.
In order to have the dream vacation experience, we’ll all need some time to chill, right? That means we’ll be spending those relaxing evening hours under the lights. Having a unique lighting fixture is the secret ingredient to getting the most out of your premium deck.
Nothing beats a view! Multi-level decks are all the rage these days. Put that extra space to good use! Besides, we think a spiral staircase adds a nice finishing touch!
Catching the big game? Take things outside and transform your viewing experience with a TV deck. And you’re still getting some fresh air.
The whole point of a backyard vacation is to just relax and take yourself out of this world, if only for a moment. With decks like these, you can find your Zen fairly quickly. The way we see it, the more modern your deck looks, the trendier it will be.

While you’re at it, why don’t you give him a follow on Facebook and Instagram?
During these unprecedented times of Covid-19, staying home more often than not and “cohorting”… some of you may be thinking that it is time to freshen up that outdoor space of yours.
Previously we’ve discussed how an outdoor dining area is a great way to maximize the amount of socializing space in your home. If you’re finding your outdoor experience to be a bit lack lustre, either because it is in need of repairs or it is outdated, it may be time to transform your backyard retreat into a comfortable oasis that will keep your guests physically distanced outdoors in-style.
One of the easiest ways to enhance the quality of your outdoor living experience is to build a pergola.
According to the Landscaping Network, “a
pergola is a freestanding structure with an open roof that is supported by
columns or posts. A pergola may also be used to cover a walkway or to provide
filtered shade for an outdoor living space.”
The nice thing about a pergola is that it adds definition to
your backyard and an inviting entertaining or dining space, which can be
especially important if your backyard does not / will not include a deck
platform.
A pergola can also add privacy through the use of canopies
or curtains, create additional space for plants to hang or climb, provide sun and
shade protection from the elements and be made in a variety of materials, such
as cedar or metal. It is also an affordable structure that can often be
purchased as a kit, for those do-it-yourself types.
Are you ready to transform
your backyard or patio into a stylish outdoor dining space?

Anyone who’s seen me at work knows that I’m always on the lookout for the next great thing in outdoor living, and let me tell you, a gorgeous low-maintenance outdoor kitchen that doesn’t LOOK low-maintenance is it! As someone who doesn’t have a lot of time to spend refinishing natural wood (who does?!), NatureKast was love at first sight for me.
Picture, if you will, a luxury outdoor kitchen with all the fixings. Beautiful woodgrain texture, rich colour, waterproof cabinets, and a dazzling array of custom inserts & modular conveniences! Now, take away the time and cost of maintaining it and protecting it from the elements. What you have is a game changer! It’s not easy for a company to make one of my wildest design dreams a reality, but NatureKast passes the test with flying colours.
So what’s the story? NatureKast is the brain child of Mike Moras, who had become frustrated with the limitations that come with using natural wood in an outdoor setting. After seeing realistic “stone” panels created using resin and PVC plastics, he got an idea for making moulds from natural wood cabinets. Once Mike had perfected the process, NatureKast was born!
NatureKast has been running out of Ontario since 2015, when a team of Canadian distributors purchased it & moved operations from Florida. From there, they were able to hugely expand their line and offer near-infinite design possibilities for any application you could dream of.
I just love getting to work with local Canadian companies such as NatureKast Weatherproof Cabinetry. There’s a sense of camaraderie and pride that’s hard to find anywhere else. These guys really know what they’re doing and have such incredible passion and energy for their product. I can’t wait to see how they tackle some of my more outlandish requests.
